September ’09 - July 2010
Well what a busy year we have had, Jasmine passed her level 1 Tumbling coach Award, Joss passed her level 3 General Gymnastics award, and I passed the level 2 Tumbling award and have now completed 2 of the 4 modules for level 3 Tumbling. Four of the helpers – Charlotte Martin, Abby Cheetham, Frankie Harling and Jack McGill attended the “Young Helpers Award”.  We had Jack Driscoll, Katie Arnold and Jazz representing their respective schools for the South West Schools Tumbling Competition at Sherbourne.  We competed at the DSYGA Regional Tumbling at Hamworthy in January. The boys represented us at the friendly Wessex comp, at Blandford, with Aiden Wallen-France getting a bronze medal and Ben Butler getting silver. We also had a record 30 gymnasts take part in the Spring Challenge which is also held at Blandford, where Alex Hutchinson, Aiden Harford and Katie Nicholls all picked up silver medals.  Well done to all the gymnasts that took part in the competitions.  I will try to put all the results onto our website over the holiday.

My young helper coaches have organised the inter-club competition on the 23rd July, we have 40 gymnasts taking part, and I am sure they will enjoy the experience. Good luck to all.

I am afraid that I must have a little moan; we have had parents calling over the children and coaching them from the side line, please do not do this as it interrupts the class.  All my coaches are qualified and insured to coach. If parents would like to help in the sessions, they are more than welcome, but must be insured with BG and have enhanced CRB checks.

Please let me know if your child does not want their place next term.
Have a great summer,

1st January 2010

£72.50

At the moment all gymnasts should pay the £15.00 fee. The DSYGA (the committee that run the regional competitions) will be meeting in September to see if there is anyway we can run competitions with only recreational insurance.  At the moment the competitions that normally run throughout the year are:
Boys floor and vault. (Feb/March)
Girls floor and vault (Feb/March)
Spring Challenge (April)
Acro Gymnastics (June/July)
Team Tumbling (June/July)
Regional Tumbling (November/December)
National Tumbling (December/January)

If we do decide to enter competitions again, we will need help from parents. When a club enters we have to provide a judge (usually Jocelyn. or myself), a coach to stay with the gymnasts, and a helper. The helpers’ role could be on the door, making teas and coffees for the judges, score keeping, music etc., and must stay until the end of the competition.  If we do not provide a helper we cannot enter, this is up to you, the parents.
Club Welfare and Child Protection Officers
We have two coaches that are trained to deal with any child protection/poor practice issues:
Jocelyn Douglas Tel # 01202-604221 and
Tracey Downer Tel # 07729224548
If you have any concerns with about child safety etc. please feel free to contact either one of them. If for any reason you do not wish to raise your concerns with them, you can contact me.
If a parent would like to become a welfare Officer, especially if you child does not come to the Leisure Centre sessions, I have a place booked on a Child Protection course on Monday 27th July (1:00 – 4:00 at David English Leisure Centre Bournemouth), and there will be a “Time to listen” course sometime in September, The club will pay for the course, the CRB check and British Gymnastic membership that you must have to attend. Come and speak to me if you are interested.

Reminders.
At the beginning of their session gymnasts should come and sit on the floor area ready for their warm up, they should not be using any of the equipment.  Hair must be tied back completely. Please make sure your child has used the toilet before the session starts.

I will be printing a handbook over the coming weeks, with all policies, procedures and club information ready for next term. Also the web site should be up and running soon!!!!!!
